Christmas Day, With the Whole Gang !!

As our annual traditions go, Christmas Day is was spent with Mr. Walker, Sr. and my wonderful Mother-In-Law, Sybil as well as Tammy, Chuck and their crew !!

This year, we thought we would try something different. Instead of actually attending the annual event, we just sent a small momento of ourselves to be placed up on the fireplace in our honor ..... it was a big hit !!

JUST KIDDING !! We actually graced the family with our presence !!

I must say though, this Christmas was a bit disappointing. The kids are all getting older and not a single one of them got a spanking or spilled their Christmas dinner on the floor. I don't even recall any of them being threatened within an inch of their lives. Ahhh...I miss the good old days when they were younger and Christmas was all about screaming at them to wait until it was time to open the presents or explaining for the 100th time why they were not eating at the "big people" table.....

Mr. Walker was even on HIS best behavior (as he usually is when his mother and father are around).....BOY -- does he have them SNOWED !!

But, in spite of the good behavior, we had a wonderful time. There were presents galore and more food than we could possibly ever eat!!

As a side note to the food, I must say, Mom is really living up to the legacy that Nanny was known for. Mom's turkey and dressing was fabulous, the gravy was perfect, and the banana pudding would have made Nanny herself proud!!! Good Job MOM !!

Christmas Eve, Minus One Turkey

Well, after a long December, Christmas Eve has finally arrived -- and Mr. Walker was all ready to play Santa Clause.....

After much discussion and research on BigGreenEgg.com, Mr. Walker was all set today to cook up the BIG BIRD for our Christmas Feast...........Thank God For Ham !!!!!

Apparently, the BIRD didn't want to be cooked and eaten for dinner THIS YEAR and decided not to cooperate with Mr. Walker and what was suppose to have taken 3 1/2 hours, was still not ready to be eaten after 4 1/2 hours on the smoker. I wonder if opening and closing the top of the smoker every 15 minutes had anything to do with it ????

We finally held a family meeting around 8:30 PM to take a vote about whether or not to proceed with Christmas or to call it off completely.......but, Christmas Cheer prevailed and we decided to have our dinner with HAM only and save the BIRD for turkey sandwiches at a later date.

After a fabulous evening of Christmas movies, candy making, lots of eating, gift giving and spending time together, we tuned into the 11:00 news to find out where Santa's sleigh was and then all jumped into bed to make sure none of us were awake when he popped down the chimney !!

She Finally Made The Blog !!!

My good friend Sandi has been harping on me ..... "when do I get to be blogged about ??"

SO -- this post is all hers !!

At the THRASHER game, when things got a little boring because we were beating our opponents so bad.....Sandi decided to give us all a SHOW !!

Gosh....you never know what someone will do for a few seconds of fame on this BLOG !!!!

HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY !!!

Our good friends Matthew and Sandi invited us to attend a hockey game with them tonight. I could not even begin to tell you who it was that played against the THRASHERS...but, we had a fabulous time and WE WON !!!

Sandi and I love to "people watch" and there was no shortage of entertainment.....beginning with Matthew and Mr. Walker.

Let me back up....to start the night off, we met Sandi and Matt and a couple of their friends at RUTH'S CHRIS STEAKHOUSE for dinner. Well, I am sure I don't have to tell you that Mr. Walker was in HEAVEN !! Steak that costs a minimum of $25 per cut is right up his alley....I didn't bother taking any pictures of he and Matt slurping their plates...even for them it was too embarrassing to document...

Anyway, back to the HOCKEY game !! We had FABULOUS seats and fortunately for Mr. Walker it wasn't too far from the "beverage" counter....as not to aggrevate his "heel spur"......what with all the exercise he got walking back and forth trying to make sure Matt got his fill of liquids.

I would be remiss if I didn't give a quick mention to the MUSTARD incident.......Let me remind you that we had all eaten a complete dinner, and some (Sandi and Matt) even had dessert, thus causing me to MISS OUT on my BLUE Santa Hat for Christmas...but I will save that RANT for another post.....but, back to the MUSTARD incident....it wasn't enough that we were all just about full enough to puke, Mr. Walker had to partake of the ARENA HOT DOG complete with --- you guessed it --- MUSTARD....Well, I'll let this picture speak for itself......

To sum it all up, the Thrashers won, Mr. Walker got some exercise and we now have a newly decorated $65 Thrashers Sweatshirt.....I suppose it will make a good car wash towel !!

This Year, Christmas Came Early !!!

Dwayne and I are lucky enough to have a great family that we are very close friends with.......The Browns.

This year, we were invited to their family Christmas celebration, and we were honored to be included.

Mama Brown (Linda) absolutely outdid herself with dinner. Everything was delicious and absolutely beautiful, as I told her, it reminded me of one of the big family celebrations you see on TV, complete with candles, floral arrangements and everything !! My compliments to her and everyone that helped her cook the delicious food.

We love you guys and are proud to be part of the extended Family.

Her Actual Birthday !!!

Well, it is here....she is officially SIXTY years old !!!

Well, the 60th "Surprise" Party is over.

I use the word SURPRISE very cautiously, since I have been badgered for over 12 months now by the birthday girl herself....

Just imagine, a short, frisky little woman screeching "I better get a birthday party, OR ELSE" in your ear every time you see her. She even told me the other day when I told her she wasn't getting one, that we should not talk about it anymore because she wanted us to have a good night while we were out shopping !!!!!

It is sad that my Mother-In-Law's love for me is conditioned upon how good of a birthday party I throw for her....

Anyway, of course, I lived up to my end of the bargain (with the help of my sister-in-law Tammy, and nephew Travis), and it was fun, and I think she was SURPRISED....in spite of her constant questioning of the entire family, including co-workers. It is a shame we have to teach our children to LIE...
