Voila!! A Volcano Cake - Sciene Project
Well --- What do you know?? We pulled it off ... and I for one am quite proud of our creation.
First, we started with 6 layers of RED VELVET cake .... then, layered them ... cutting each one just a tiny bit smaller than the one before and icing with creamy CHOCOLATE icing as we went!!
Once our cake was assembled and iced, we crushed up the RED VELVET trimmings and mixed it with crushed OREOS to make RED HOT LAVA which we then layered around the bottom of our volcano and strategically placed it all down the sides to give the appearance of our VOLCANO being covered in MOLTEN LAVA!!
Next, a tiny bit of green grass was placed on the outer edges of the MOLTEN LAVA LAKE at the base of the VOLCANO ......
Once our hot LAVA was in place, it was time for our BIG FINALE ----- 16 CANDLES in a scooped our VOLCANO CRATER right on top that will be lit tomorrow during science class to demonstrate the VOLCANO actively on FIRE!!!
You know what ......... NOT TO BAD for a Kid that was just sure we couldn't do it .... and a Girl that wasn't quite sure either ...... Good thing we were both determined NOT TO EMBARASS OURSELVES in front of the entire SCIENCE CLASS!!!
So ... Here it is ... Our FINISHED VOLCANO!!!
AND --- My absolute FAVORITE PART of the EVENING ???? Making Sir Nicholas SWEEP up the OREO crumbs he dropped all over the floor!!! We discovered HE REALLY DOES KNOW HOW TO USE A BROOM!!!! It doesn't get any better than that !!!!
